We perform soft-tissue surgery in-house, which matters out here, because the alternative is a long drive with a sick animal.

- Foreign-body and urgent abdominal surgery
- Spay and neuter
If it is beyond us, we say so
Some procedures belong with a specialty surgeon. When that is the case we will tell you plainly and refer you to someone we trust, with your records already sent ahead.
How we keep surgery safe
- Pre-surgical exam, and pre-anesthetic blood work to catch dehydration, anemia, infection, or kidney/liver issues before they complicate anesthesia
- A veterinary nurse with your pet continuously from anesthesia through recovery
- Continuous monitoring: heart rate, oxygen levels, respiration, ECG, and temperature
- IV catheter and fluids during anesthetic procedures
- Pain management before, during, and after surgery, plus take-home medication when needed
The night before
Withhold food and treats after 9 PM the night before surgery; water is fine. Hold morning medications unless we tell you otherwise. Plan on a morning drop-off.
Where to book this
Booked at California City (Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri). This one needs a surgery day or a same-week recheck, so it does not run on the two-day Ridgecrest schedule.
